Steel grating can be manufactured through manual welding or machine welding processes, arranging bearing bars and cross bars in longitude and latitude order at specific distances. Cross bars are pressed into bearing bars using high-tension resistance welding controlled by molds or computer systems.

Bars generally consist of twisted square steel, square steel, round steel, flat steel, etc. Surface treatments include: hot galvanizing, cold galvanizing, spray modeling, painting, and dip anti-rust oil to prevent oxidation and rust (stainless steel typically doesn't require these treatments, with most stainless steel surfaces receiving polishing treatment).
